Hebenstreit, Bryanna L

Bryanna Hebenstreit

Research Assistant on PANACEA

Bryanna L. Hebenstreit is a funded PhD Candidate at the University at Albany, SUNY. She conducts research using ethnomethodologically-informed conversation analysis. Her primary research area, and the basis of her dissertation research, explores the concepts of intercorporeality, interkinesthesia, and enaction in everyday settings as introduced in Meyer & v. Wedelstaedt (2017) which builds upon the extensive work done by Charles Goodwin. This explores how multiple interactants co-collaborate to achieve social action with their embodied movement, verbal utterances, use of objects, and attention to the environmental features at hand. She has done work investigating how co-occurring activities in the same space creates an interactional boundary between activities during free play at a daycare, as well as how the use of affect or emotion constitutes breaches in expectations in a telephone conversation. She is currently engaged in the question of how collaborative action on a home refurbishment worksite gets done, and how onomatopoeia is used in conjunction with embodied displays in interaction.
